TwinOxide / Chlorine Dioxide is registered with the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) as a disinfectant, sanitizer and sterilizer which is defined as the ability “to destroy or eliminate all forms of microbial life including fungi, viruses, and all forms of bacteria and their spores”. Below are some of the more commonly seen organisms that Chlorine Dioxide has been proven to eliminate. To date, no organism tested against Chlorine Dioxide has proven to be resistant.

Chlorine Dioxide by TwinOxide

A lot of people are claiming that they too, have access to stabilised Clo2 in the market. All of them however are based on the ‘traditional’ chlorine dioxide formula. TwinOxide however has a patented formula that uses the chlorine dioxide molecule to do the biocidal killing. It does not generate by-products that causes harm to humans by releasing harmful carcinogens.

 Why are we different?

 Traditional chlorine and chlorine type disinfectants (e.g. sodium hypochlorite, calcium hypochlorite etc) generate so called “free chlorine “when mixed with water. This dangerous free chlorine, also known as hypochlorous acid, is the biocidal component that does the actual killing of bacteria. By comparisonTwinOxide works on the safe biocidal component chlorine dioxide. When a solution of TwinOxide is used, the chlorine dioxide itself does the biocidal kill. It kills the full spectrum of bacteria, algae, fungi, protozoan, yeast, methanogens and viruses. Although chlorine can be found in the name, but it is NOT a chlorine type of disinfectant. TwinOxide does not release free chlorine (hypochlorous acid) to provide a biocidal function. This is a patented formula that we like to call a hybrid version of chlorine dioxide, without the by-products.

TwinOxide® Technical Data Sheet

TwinOxide® disinfection proposition features a two-component powder kit comprising TwinOxide® component A and Component B, that after being added to a designated volume of water, react into a chlorine dioxide (ClO2) solution with a 30 days stability and a concentration of 0.3% (3000ppm). When used as directed, this dual powder, chlorine dioxide-generating product is proven effective as: disinfectant, deodorizer, fungsitat, mildewstat, algaestat and sanitizer.

  1. Specifications

The TwinOxide® Components A & B serve as precursors for a well-considered and multiple approved method for the generation of chlorine dioxide in aqueous solution.

The main ingredient of TwinOxide® Component A is sodium chlorite (NaClo2, CAS Number: 7758-19-2), a white odourless powder without any apparent impurities. This substance is in compliance with the chemical purity and quality specifications and requirements as defined in the European product standard DIN EN 938.

The main ingredient of TwinOxide® Component B is sodium bisulphate (NaHSO4, CAS Number: 7681-38-1), a white odourless granulate without any apparent impurities. This substance is in compliance with the chemical purity and quality specifications and requirements as defined in the European product standard DIN EN 16037.

The certificates of analysis of the main ingredients of the TwinOxide® components are available are available upon request. 

The generated TwinOxide® 0.3% solution (chlorine dioxide in an aqueous, yellow solution with a concentration of 0.3%) is used for disinfection of water in various application that include potable water.

A purity and stability test of the TwinOxide 0.3% solution is available upon request.

  1. Regulatory Status

Chlorine dioxide (ClO2, CAS Number: 10049-04-4) is an approved and allowed substance for human and animal consumption according to EU, USEPA, WHO standards and many national drinking water regulations.

TwinOxide® is notified in Germany by the Federal Institude for Occupational Safety and Health (BAUA) under number N-35939. In the US, TwinOxide® is approved by USEPA under registration number 86054-1 and certified according to NSF60. In addition, TwinOxide® has been approved by the competent authority in 40 plus countries as a drinking water disinfectant.
